CEL on - code P1362 TDC Sensor, no signal on 1999 Honda CRV-EX

Car starts and runs fine. Dealer checked distributor cap and rotor for corrosion, but were fine. Checked resistance at TDC sensor and ohms that are supposed to be max 800 ohms, mine are 12,000 ohms, so they said. When they reset light, it did not come back on. They suggested maybe needs new distributor, but not sure. The light came on again 1 month later. Two mechanics have seen this now, and are not for sure what it is. The one said to change the whole distributor as TDC Sensor cannot be replaced, but I'm wondering if is a short, or wire issue, or maybe connector dirty? Last year, I had major service done, timing belt and water pump changed and spark plugs were changed 2 years ago. Car has never thrown a CEL, ever, so I'm stumped. Should I just changed the distributor, and are yours good for honda crvs? Dealer tells me not to go aftermarket as says Honda cars don't work well with them.
