2012 Toyota Tacoma

Today’s car of the day is the 2012 Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma hasn't changed significantly in many years. And while it's carried into 2012, the proportions of the grille have been stretched just a bit, and the bumper and lower dam area have been contoured to look more aggressive. Otherwise, at least on the outside, the Tacoma continues its relatively traditional compact-truck design. There are two engine models available, the base a 2.7-liter four-cylinder will manage 159-horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. 2012 Volkswagen Passat TDI

For the record, VW is not alone in this. BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Toyota have all taken advantage of similar taxpayer handouts in the U.S. south. The turbocharged, direct-injected, 2.0-liter inline-four is a little stump puller. While only rated at 140 horsepower, it delivers 236 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm and according to the EPA, the Passat TDI earns 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. Check out Read more and comment!

GM is recalling 145,000 cars

General Motors Co said on Thursday it is recalling 145,628 mid-sized pickup trucks globally as the hood could open unexpectedly due to a possible missing latch. Of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups affected by the recall, 118,800 are in the United States, 15,264 are in Canada, 7,492 are in Mexico and the rest are exports, GM said. GM is recalling the model year 2010 to 2012 trucks because the hood may be missing a secondary hood latch, so if the primary latch is not engaged the hood could open and block the driver's view and increase the risk Read more and comment!
